Cruise Away!

I just came back from my week-long cruise! Went down to Miami on Sunday and cruised away from Monday-Friday. Had a little trouble with Tropical Storm Fay, but only in the beginning of the week, by the end the weather was gorgeous! Bahamas was absolutely gorgeous! Check out the Atlantis Hotel if you have a chance, its beautiful!!

So for a week long vacay:

You need a cute carry-on luggage. But if you're gonna bring makeup, you should probably check your bag since they only allow one ziplock bag of 3 oz or less items.

Don't forget to pack your bathing suit, favorite shades and sunscreen - SPF30+ is a MUST! & for those loungy days, bring a cute hat to wear on the beach!

Pretty much, just enjoy yourself when you're on vacation! Def. hit up the beach before summer ends! Its crazy how fast summer has gone by!

Glam God with Vivica A. Fox

I'm back from my cruise! Back home and watching VHI and what comes on... "Glam God with Vivica A. Fox." A new reality t.v. show showcasing stylists who have the chance to launch their career by styling a celebrity for U.S. Weekly and winning $100,000! I may question Vivica Fox's own fashion choices at times, but I love how sassy she is! Haha. It's interesting to see what the stylists put together and their view on different outfits. I would def say to check it out if you have a chance. I think the upcoming episodes will be a lot more interesting. Thursday, 10 PM on VH1 or watch it online. Tell me what you think of the show!

Old Navy's Comeback

Old Navy is really stepping it up. They have introduced a Petite line and a Tall line (which doesn't help me at all!), but I am excited about the petites line. I've been having a lot of trouble finding sizes in many stores. It just seems like all the sizes have gone up! :( but thats another story. There was a time where I would have never even considered shopping at Old Navy, but ever since Todd Oldham took over as fashion creative director, the line has really improved. Its affordable yet more style conscious, which you can never go wrong with! He is really revamping the line gearing it towards more fashion conscious 20s instead of a general everybody. I still wouldn't say my whole wardrobe is coming from Old Navy, but one or two pieces more than usual.

The ruffled edges on this cardigan has a similar feel to the J. Crew cardigan besides the J.Crew one being cashmere and quite pricey... what do you expect to pay for high quality cashmere. The Old Navy one is a good look for less if you can't afford J. Crew's style. I'm also loving the Argyle cardigan, absolutely love Argyle print for the fall! Very prep cool.

This yellow dress is also gorgeous! It looks just so easy to wear, bright for summer. Just a perfect summer dress for going out. I love the pleat detailing. Wear it before summer ends!

Here is a picture of two of my favorite petite stars, Eva Longoria and Hayden Pannetiere, at the Whaleman Foundation Benefit on August 10th at Beso's restaurant in L.A. They both look lovely. Word from Red Carpet Fashion Awards is that Eva's belted jacket is from OLD NAVY!! Old Navy has come a long way, showing up at red carpet benefits! Eva is looking great in the jacket, accessorizing the look with animal print peeptoes and gold jewlery.

What do you think? Are you willing to give Old Navy a try for those who don't really shop there? I usually wait until their clothes go on a major sale! You might have to dig through the racks, but it'll be worth it for a good deal. Also, don't forget to check out the guy's stuff for your brothers/boyfriends/etc. The preppy style is in full effect for fall!

Eyelid Twitch

I had a patient with MS that came in with complaints of an eyelid twitch. Two days later, my other good friend complained about an eyelid twitch as well. So I decided be best to address the issue of how to soothe the eyelid twitch.

An eyelid twitch, also known as myokymia, is benign, spontaneous contraction of the orbicularis oculi muscle (Cranial Nerve 7) affecting one of the lower eyelids, but it can affect the upper eyelid as well. It usually occurs when someone is under a lot of stress, excessive alcohol or caffeine intake. So that explains why everyone's eyelid twitches during finals.. stressed out, no sleep, and huge amounts of coffee. haha.

The doctor I was working with that day recommended that my patient drink some quinine water a.k.a tonic water to help calm the nerve down. The eyelid twich is self-limited so it will go away by itself. Just relax a little more (if you can!), get a little more sleep and decrease the intake of alcohol or caffeine. I've also heard of using warm compresses on the eye as well. A more dramatic form of treatment is getting botox injections, but since this is something that will go away, it's not really recommended as a first treatment.

Myokymia is common in a host of neurological disorders, including multiple sclerosis and Guillian-Barre syndrome, but it is also common in the general population as well. Isolated incidences without other signs of symptoms are usually nothing to worry about!

*sorry about the delay in posts! its finals week :( wish me luck! but i can't wait to go on my cruise next week!! one week of full relaxation!

Product Review: Benefit Lipscription

I absolutely LOVE this product! Benefit's Lipscription works wonders for chapped lips, which mine are especially in the winter. In the summer months, its not as bad or anything, but this product will definitely help hydrate your lips so your lip color will go on smoothly and perfectly. I will literally go into Sephora and put on these buffing beads, which trust me, looks totally ridiculous rubbing a bunch of opaque white beads onto your lips, but after I use this product, my lips are flake free and extra smooth! It also comes with a rich hydrating lip balm to help seal in the moisture and keep your lips nice and smooth. I would definitely recommend this product 100% to anyone who has chapped lips! Its pretty simple product:

Step 1: Use a small amount of the buffing beads on your lips, rubbing it all over. Be sure to keep your mouth closed so you don't get any of the beads in your mouth

Step 2: Wipe off the buffing beads with a tissue. Make sure you get it all off or else you will be left with a sandy feeling on your lips.

Step 3: Use the lip balm all over your lips to seal in moisture.

Ta-Da! You are done and now your lips feel great :)
